JOB DESCRIPTION

A Production Operative plays a key role in the manufacturing process by carrying out various tasks on the production line. This role involves assembling components, operating machinery, and ensuring the efficient and accurate production of goods.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements, though some employers may require GCSEs/S grades. Some employers may set dexterity and aptitude tests for entrants. Normal colour vision may be required for some posts. NVQs/SVQs at Levels 1, 2 and 3 are available in a variety of areas.

TASKS

  • Assemble components using hand tools, power tools, or automated machinery..
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals..
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors..

  • Conduct quality checks on assembled products to ensure they meet specifications..
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials on the production floor..
  • Follow production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet production targets..
  • Handle raw materials and components for assembly..
  • Identify and address any defects or discrepancies during the production process..
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency..
  • Maintain accurate records for reporting and compliance..
  • Mentor new team members as needed..
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary..
  • Operate machinery and equipment as part of the production process..
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on production techniques..
  • Perform assembly tasks on the production line according to established procedures..
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and tools..
